Amidoxime: It's not a party until you get the whiteboard, right? ... Harvesting Uranium Dications from Seawater - Dr. Stephen Boyd @ TEAC12

2 min read

I've finished all the legit TEAC12 talks and now I'm doubling back to some spontaneous stuff... Boyd steals a whiteboard.

We didn't know. We couldn't run. It all happened so fast.

Safety 3rd, Thorium 1st - John Kutsch

TEAC12 is wrapped up with John Kutsch's talk "Safety 3rd" where he argues Generation 4 Reactors ("Gen IV") already improve on conventional nuclear's achievement of safest-possible-energy... so maybe we could de-prioritize safety now? Please?

Some Success with YouTube Shorts!

Arnold Schwarzenegger on Nuclear Power & Germany vs California. Value of Diablo Canyon.
https://youtube.com/shorts/rKd86-MQcrI

...received 1 million views! While the traffic has now tapered off, that was the fastest I've ever collected views on the entire YouTube platform.

The original video was first propagated by Mark Nelson, and frankly I felt like I was just going thru the motions to fit it into a (1 minute, 9x16) YouTube Short... nobody likes these... YouTube Shorts are stupid... well they might be stupid, but a lot of people watched this one.

But because Arnold Schwarzenegger was (likely) the biggest draw of the video, and not "nuclear power" I think it brought in some folk who were more open-minded, as opposed to people who already hate it or like it.

It appears "nuclear waste" is a very common concern... based on all the comments.

I think people who HATE nuclear power cite Chernobyl or Fukushima.

People without a strong opinion MIGHT cite nuclear waste, but then appreciate that it can be recycled.

More YouTube Shorts!

This is a YouTube Playlist consisting mostly of YouTube Nuclear Soundbites...

Apple iCloud iPhone Nuclear Shared Album

https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B1r5CmvASGfPDBf

If you own an iPhone, and sometimes would like to reply on social media with a pro-nuclear video clip, it is quite easy to do so IF that desired video can be found in Photos.

If you join this "Shared Album" (which DOES expose your email address to everyone else in the album) then a "Shared Album" can be accessed when you want to post a video clip.

If you're in Twitter (er... X.) and you tap the photo icon (which also allows you to post video) the default album is "All photos".

"All Photos \/"

So we tap that, and see a chooser, where we see...

...etc. But then eventually we get to any custom Albums you've created, and then Shared Albums you've created or joined.

If you BUG ME and ask to join this Shared Album, I can then add you (exposing your email to a small number of people) and "Nuclear" will appear.

I'm hoping some iPhone users will try this.

I don't think us pro-nuclear people are posting as much video assets as we could be.

Particularly in REPLIES.

You can post a video in a reply.

Maybe we normally don't because preparing a video (or ripping a video) takes effort. We don't do it as a instant-response, because the assets are not on-hand.

They can be on-hand.

If you have an iPhone, and there's a particular video or moment you'd like to post-as-a-reply, let me know what the moment is. (From anywhere.) gordonmcdowell@gmail.com
