Berkeley Tour & Per Peterson

1 min read

UPDATE: This used to be private, now is public. Video URL is different. Animations are integrated.

Day 3 of 2-day-TEAC7 was a tour of CIET and X-PREX at Berkeley.

At 31m -> 32m30s is where I learned something new... that the reason AP1000's PWR passive-safety features took so long to get to market is that only USA has CIET facilities, and can perform scale testing of passive safety systems.

Which isn't to say the whole tour isn't interesting and informative, but Kirk toured a year ago, so many of you may have seen his Per-guided version of the tour already.

This video provides way more context in lecture form... Dr. Per Peterson's presentation, as well as some in-the-cafeteria discussion about SiC and fuel quality.

University of Wisconsin Note:

Willie Zenk pointed out in comments that University of Wisconsin, Madison was recently awarded a DoE grant for characterizing tritium removal in liquid fluoride salts.

10,000 Subscribers on YouTube (vs ~200 Paterons)

Always good to see these numbers crawl upwards, but I do wonder what the heck the value of a YouTube subscriber is since most of the TEAC7 videos I've posted hit around 500 views, not 10,000 views. Clearly some videos get far more views but that's beyond-subscriber viral activity.

Anyway... is a number. Was below 10,000 yesterday. Today is above 10,000.

Update from Per

Just heard back. Per's fine with this edit but offered his presentation slides. I'll wait on those and incorporate them before making this video public.  So this video URL will eventually deprecate. [Update: Has happened]
