FluidFuelReactors.com

1 min read

Well, there's a website where Fluid Fuel Reactors can be read in HTML now.

I'm still cleaning up the HTML (particularly the tables), and once finished will update the Kindle, Apple and Google eBooks from a single ePub/XHTML source being edited in Sigil. It is a slog, but at least can be done easily on a laptop, and without much cognitive overhead when task switching... As opposed to "now it is time to make a video, I shall speak into a microphone, silence household!" effort of putting together a 2-minute narrated video.

The chapter links shall remain stable, such as...

...or even without the .php at the end...

...although none of the site's links strip them yet.

But the deeper links such as images and sub-chapters...

...might change, I'm going to see how readable I can make them.

Cleaning Up Tables

This is what a cleaned-up table looks like...

...but this is what most tables still look like...

...which is a readability issue on some eBook platforms.

Monetization

So far nothing interesting. I ran a variety of ad types and am under the impression I might be earning slightly more than being spent on ads (this is all dollar-per-day scale experiments) and it is possible to target some anti-nuclear search terms "nuclear disaster" and still earn $2 from having spent $1.33 (that's a Kindle Direct Publishing ad).

But it all seems to throttle below my budget... I say try spend $10/day on a search term, but KDP will only let me run a couple dollars worth of ads. Is something I'm playing with over time to try figure out.
