John Kutsch announced Thorium Energy Alliance's Conference #11 .
TEAC11 @ National Museum of Nuclear Science & History
...in Albuquerque, New Mexico. (Which I only know from Breaking Bad. and Better Call Saul.)
https://thoriumenergyalliance.com/tea-conference/
2022, October 13th and 14th.
TEA will be revealing an MSR exhibit at the Nuclear Museum, where some footage from ORNL's old MSRE and MSR-Maintenance docs will be shown.
I've edited that highlight reel and these 8 minutes are worth sharing. (It is this post's featured video.) https://youtu.be/tZEfROeKCfE
To create the highlight reel I had to address music which ran throughout both ORNL documentaries. Here are the original ORNL versions on YouTube: MSRE , MSR-Maintenance.
That's a-lot-of-music!
Here are my NoMusic full-length versions: MSRE , MSR-Maintenance.
And if you need to download those NoMusic MP4s: MSRE , MSR-Maintenance.
...those downloads will have slightly better visual quality than ripping my YouTube copies, as YouTube will have re-compressed the YouTube copies. Those files are what I uploaded to YouTube.
iZotope RX9 Advanced was used to isolate music from dialog.
There's nothing technically interesting about the 8m edit beyond the removal of music.
But I think it might be easier for newcomers to watch 8m of highlihgts than the 40 minutes of combined content found in the originals.
NASA THORIUM REMIX 2016
Remember back in 2016 I released the 6.5h "Thorium." doc? (Which has collected an anemic 218,258 views.)
Well just before releasing the full thing, I released the first 2h10m as "NASA THORIUM REMIX 2016" while I was finishing off the remaining 4 hours for the 6.5h release.
That particular 2h10m video has gone viral, collecting over 1 million views in under a month. It is now the single-most viewed video I've ever hosted on YouTube. (1,297,713 views.)

The video finally found its audience: Space keeners.
Why did this happen now, and not in 2016? I dunno. The YouTube gods are fickle.
This is entirely due to YouTube recommending it (suddenly) to space keeners, and many of them liking it.

It won't be popular for long, but is nice it finally found an audience.
Attachment: Critical Materials vs EV Rollout
Jim Kennedy created a slide deck illustrating China's dominance of "Tech Metals".
I encourage you to take a look at the whole thing, but here's a copy/paste of the conclusion...
Conclusion: This rush to zero carbon is driven by short term private interests leveraging fears of global warming that conflate with larger ideological agendas. Things will go wrong, there will be multiple train wrecks.
Potential Winners: China, natural gas producers, mining companies that supply China, flim-flam renewable / green tech / green energy project promoters, 1% or less of the U.S. & EU population.
Potential Losers: 99% of U.S. & EU population, legacy and residual manufacturing industries, the financial system and the U.S. dollar as its status as world reserve currency evaporates.
Elon Musk Signals Support for Diablo Canyon
Isabelle Boemeke and her team got 79 very prominent scientists and entrepreneurs to sign a letter asking Gov. Newsom to keep Diablo Canyon open.
I posted the letter to Slashdot, which apparently Elon Musk reads.
While I don't think this "Agreed" one-word-Tweet from Elon Musk got any meaningful traction (unlike Isabelle's original letter got in the California press), it does seem like Elon might be shifting his position on Diablo Canyon itself.
Elon Musk has always been pro-nuclear, with some inconvenient caveats such as away-from-earthquakes. It isn't really clear if his tweet was intended to mean Diablo Canyon or just stop-closing-nuclear-plants in general.
If you've ever wanted to retweet Elon Musk, this is his "Agreed" response:

I bought a 2021 MacBook Pro (64GB RAM)
I'm still porting my 2012 MacBook Pro (16 GB RAM) data over to it.
Really hope I'll be able to edit complex video somewhere other than my basement dungeon editing room (64GB RAM PC). I've got [glances at watch] 12 days to figure that out before the return policy expires.
