"30 bombs worth of Plutonium every year"

1 min read

Dr. Arjun Makhijani's statement to the Minnesota Senate, that "Every nuclear plant generates about 30 bombs worth of Plutonium every year" is worth looking at in detail.

Makhijani wrote the IEER report "Thorium - No Panacea for Nuclear Power". That is how I came to learn his name. If he hadn't written that report, no doubt this video would not exist.

I had some existing Caldicott assets and of course the 3-isotopes Pu explanation (Austin Powers). So surprisingly the hardest part of making this video was me re-installing Win7 on my PC, when I used a malware laden video tool to try extract captioning data from the Minnesota Senate's video... oh I'm sorry, I just put you to sleep.

Well if you think my technical problem was boring, how about 6 solid hours of 2011 public meetings held by the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future?

The USA Governmental site hosting that video stream was taken down. Since I had a copy, figured I should probably upload it all to YouTube... in case anyone else ever needs to review it.

The YouTube closed captions are based on a PDF transcript of the event.
