This conference in Calgary is something I'll be attending, to capture the nuclear aspects of it. I have permission to do so, although I am not the official video capture of the event.
My personal stake in the success of such an event, beyond me wanting to see MSR commercialized ASAP, is that I live in one of the most air-polluting provinces in the developed world: Alberta.
We're predominantly dependent on hydrocarbons for our prosperity. If Alberta doesn't move to a clean source of energy I suspect we'll be at a strong economic disadvantage in the future. (Plus I happen to believe in Global Warming, so there's that.)
Using heat from MSR to begin lowering emissions associated with hydrocarbons would be a very practical transition, one which would undoubtedly open up unforeseen opportunities along the way. (Although Dr. Stephen Boyd does foresee quite a few.)
If you live in Calgary, please consider attending. The more pro-nuclear voices who attend, the more intelligent questions that are asked, the most our hydrocarbon industry sees support from Calgarians, the more likely Advanced Nuclear will move forward in Alberta, and in Canada.
Brussels?
So it appears I am not going to Brussels to video capture, TEC2018. Sorry I said otherwise in my previous post. I'm only sharing my latest understanding of the situation so I'm not leaving people with a false impression.
I simply can not fly there unless I know I have permission to use what I captured myself in narrative videos. I could not get that permission. (At this point, ominously so.) I'm sure they'll do a fine job capturing the talks and posting online, as they did so acceptably every year since I've attended them.
ORNL MSR Workshop
Still trying to attend. Seems that it is up to ORNL to tell me yes-or-no and that's that. Waiting to hear.
Fluid Fuel Reactors
My communication with Department of Energy has entered its 1-year mark on this subject. They tell me they are still reviewing my application to publish (personally) Fluid Fuel Reactors as an eBook for $3.

Nuclear Communication Experiment
Have been working with Eric Meyer (IMHO an expert on nuclear communication) to help Generation Atomic release some Advanced Nuclear videos. Here is the first:
Advanced reactors could help save the world
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS_zt6GUgx4
...music sound familiar? Composed by Stephen Tanksley.
The music is kind of an economies-of-scale thing... having that easy to use for Generation Atomic as it is for Energy Disruptors.
To people reading this, much of this material might seem terribly redundant. But to the wider YouTube, most people have never thought about nuclear, advanced nuclear or have any idea what a Molten Salt Reactor is.
Which is why I wish organizations like NEI would aggressively promote their own educational videos... NEI's video has ~5,500 views (published 8 months ago).
Generation Atomic's first video has ~37,000 views (published 2 weeks ago).
Am very happy to help Eric and Generation Atomic with video efforts... Eric's insights then feed back into everything else I edit going forward.
