GPC Green Party of Canda Nuclear Debate

1 min read

Canada's Green Party held a nuclear round-table.

Dr. Gordon Edwards (who is The Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility) was the anti-nuclear speaker (they were all anti-nuclear) who I've come to recognize as the go-to-person for Canadian Greens for all their nuclear questions.

So this video is an attempt to give Canadian Greens a chance to hear Dr. Gordon Edwards's opinions on nuclear power be challenged.

This is my promotional Tweet:

Dr. Gordon Edwards's 2011 email that was forwarded by Elizabeth May was a big factor in why I came to support nuclear power. Before I started reviewing Dr. Helen Caldicott footage, it was Dr. Gordon Edwards who first gave me a taste of weak anti-nuclear arguments.

Calgary's Marda Gras street festival on Aug 8th (Sunday)

At the end of the video you'll see I mention "Marda Gras" festival in Calgary. I'm going to host a pro-nuclear table on Aug 8th (Sunday), and see how that experience goes.

If you're in Calgary, try and check it out. Is in Calgary's Marda Loop community.

Pickering - Tax The Gas campaign

Canadians For Nuclear Energy has launched a "Tax The Gas" campaign to try save Ontario's Pickering nuclear power plant.

It is an interesting example of how a supposed carbon-tax fails to actually tax carbon when that would strengthen nuclear power's cost advantage.

Ontario gas plants are only taxed for emissions  over 370 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour. This unreasonably  high threshold means gas plants pay the carbon tax on only 10% of their  carbon emissions.

Pickering needs to be refurbished or it will retire. If the competing gas plants were actually taxed for their carbon emissions, then refurbishment becomes a no-brainer.
